How fashion industry can leverage artificial intelligence

#artificialintelligence

"Artificial intelligence (AI) would be the ultimate version of Google. The ultimate search engine that would understand everything on the web. It would understand exactly what you wanted, and it would give you the right thing." - Larry Page AI grants us the power to understand exactly what our consumers want, and this power, when leveraged correctly, can be the quickest path to success. AI, compared to the "Demon" by Elon Musk and to "God" by Alan Perlis, is omnipresent today. It would be hard to name an industry that isn't growing increasingly dependent on AI, and fashion retail is no exception.

How to Implement Artificial Intelligence in Fashion Retail

#artificialintelligence

Defined as a technology that has the ability of computers or machines to perform tasks that are typically human, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a technology that is developing rapidly. As it continues to advance, now is the perfect time for fashion brands to adopt AI. Those who do not get on board now will probably realise the value of AI too late, and fashion brands using Artificial Intelligence would have already taken the technology to another level. In this article, I will be making several recommendations that can contribute to the successful implementation of artificial intelligence in the fashion retail business, and I will also be discussing the pitfalls. I have asked Jelle Stienstra, Digital Strategy Director at PTTRNS.ai, about AI in the fashion industry today, he shared:"AI is an integral part of different industries these days, more and more companies are using the fast-developing applications of AI, and many first movers have embraced AI technology and are applying it for different purposes".

Stitch Fix: The Amazing Use Case Of Using Artificial Intelligence In Fashion Retail

#artificialintelligence

Stitch Fix, established in 2011 in San Francisco, has disrupted the fashion retail industry. With input from the customer and collaboration between artificial intelligence (AI) and human stylists, the online styling subscription service eliminates the need for their customers to go out and shop for clothing or even browse online, because they deliver personalized recommendations right to their door on a regular schedule. The customers can keep all of the products or return what they don't like or need. That feedback gets input into the company's data vaults to make the algorithms even better at determining the preferred style for each person and even identify trends. In 2017, the company had $1 billion in revenue and 2.2 million active customers, but competitors such as Amazon and Trunk Club are lining up to mimic its style of retail.

Online retail usually focuses marketing efforts on improving category pages. Optimizing these eCommerce pages, full of products of a certain category, might help attract large amounts of traffic. However, some marketers applying this on-page SEO technique overlook the importance of including all relevant information at a product page level. This is surprising if we take into account that 34% of retailers consider the pre-purchase stage to be the most important part of a customer shopping experience, which happens in the product page. This is where you find out more about the product and its details.
